Seminar 13-14 June – In the Land of Legends

Join us for a Seminar in the Land of Legends!
13-14 June 2019 in Ljungby Sweden

The Storytelling Festival of Ljungby is the oldest annual storytelling festival in the Nordic countries. Since 1990, storytellers, folklorists, and story-lovers have met here to share stories, and discuss topics related to transmission and safeguarding of oral tradition. This year, special attention will be given to that the Land of Legends was adopted to the UNESCO Register of Good Safeguarding Practice under the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage during the UNESCO committee meeting in November 2018.

A core word in the Convention is sharing – and this is what we would like to do during Ljungby Storytelling Festival, which take place between June 13 and June 16. With this letter we would like to invite you to join us for a two-day seminar on the topic Oral Storytelling Tradition. The seminar will take place on June 13 and 14. During these days, invited folklorists, scholars, storytellers and representatives from the Land of Legends will explore and share different ways to work with Intangible Cultural Heritage, in this case oral storytelling tradition. Join us for two days of inspiring lectures, fruitful conversations, guided tours and great company!

The seminar has been made possible with generous support from Kungliga Gustavus Adolphus Academy for Swedish Folkculture http://gustavadolfsakademien.se
